Week 3

Traveling to Cabanatuan city

23/FEB/2020

Time: 5:00 Leaving RSTC

We spent our time in Cabanatuan city on the third weekend. As always, I woke up early for the long day journey. On the way, I saw beautiful nature from the car.

The green grass reflected the morning sunlight beautifully.

Our breakfast as at Jollibee. We had fried chicken and the garlic rice. It as a good meal for the long sporty day.

Time: 7:45 Minalungao Hiking

We started hiking before 8 am. The mountain was easy for beginners so that I did not feel tired the entire time. I was a bit surprised that I did not see any animal or big bugs that I usually see in Japanese mountains. There were however, big ants that I had never seen before. That was shocking but made me realized that each creature lives on their best environment.

After climbed down the mountain, we went to the cave that took about 30 minutes walk from the mountain. On the way, there was a beautiful river running beside the road and we saw many people jumped in the water. We promised ourselves that we will try the jump next time we come here!

Time: 11:00 Snack Time

After all the activity, we felt tired that we decided to eat some snacks! I had grilled corn which I felt the most delicious corn that I had ever had (not just because I was hungry but was naturally good!). Some of my friends enjoyed their time with street deserts and they all looked yummy.

Time: 12:00 Lunch and grocery shopping

For lunch, we had a philippino food at a mall. It was a buffet so we could take whatever we wanted to eat! There were many dishes that I had never seen before so it was a good time for recognizing new Philippino food as well. My favourite dish was called “Kare kare” which was like a curry soup with chickens and seasonings. At first, I thought Kare kare was curry that I eat in Japan because the colour, the ingredients and most of all, the name were very similar to our curry. It was right after I took a bite to realize that it was totally different dish. But it didn’t disappoint me at all because the taste was good. I am so lucky that I get to experience tasting different kind of Philippino foods.

The third weekend went by fast. I am glad that I could explore Cabanatuan city and did all the fun activities throughout the day. Thank you Mr. Gaboy and coordinators for taking us to such a wonderful adventure! I hope to come back here and do jumping from the shore next time!
